This is a radio app for the iPad that focuses on arts, news and music. The app comes with myriad of stations to choose from, all of which are reachable with few taps. NPR utilizes GPS searches in order to find the stations near you and also gives you the option to read NPR-based news through a streaming bar on the page. The app is free. [link]

Out-of-box, the iPad can play only a couple of formats – m4kv and mp4 and there is absolutely no support for one of the most popular video formats – Xvid. However, there is a third party solution that claims to solve the problem. The app is called CineXPlayer which lets the user transfer movies in Xvid format directly on the iPad, skipping the need to encode them to iPad-friendly formats.
