Fortune is running a report about the declining growth of notebook sales. The report was citing a study made by Morgan Stanley’s Katy Hubert issuing a report about the damage done by tablets, primarily the iPad to notebook sales. The study cited the iPad’s damaging effect to notebook sales for the past eight or nine months.

Evidence of the study showed that after six months of decreasing growth, retail of notebooks in the U.S. fell by 4% year-over-year in August. This is the first time that such event has happended to notebook sales. The report also showed similar findings for the first week of September. And perhaps one proof that the iPad is affecting notebook sales was Best Buy CEO’s statement stating that – “internal estimates showed that the iPad had cannibalized sales from laptop PCs by as much as 50 percent.” The statement was published by the Wall Street Journal.

I still like my MacBook, but iPad is the way to go, don’t you think?
