While other magazines offering their issues on the iPad have been forced to settle for selling individual copies rather than subscriptions, one title has gotten around the ban.
Long-running daily newsletter Sporting News just debuted its new app for the iPad, and it comes with a major difference from other publications available at the Apps Store. Just like other titles, this one offers the current issue, in this case for $.99, but Sporting News Today is also selling monthly subscriptions for $2.99.
The hitch is that this app delivers only PDF files of the newsletter’s print edition, with no interactive features to take advantage of the iPad’s touch screen. Sporting News execs promise more interactivity in the future. For now, you can get Sporting News Today at the Apps Store.
