In a move that signals the speed with which newspapers are becoming a thing of the past, one major title undergoes a major overhaul to move from print to digital media.

USA Today has announced a major change in structure that will shift its focus away from print. Instead the paper will be reformatted for digital devices, including the iPad. This move will result in 130 lost jobs as USA Today puts editors together into content groups rather than the paper’s existing sections of Life, Money, News and Sports. One has to wonder how many other struggling papers will follow as the tablet becomes the chosen source for reading news. Newspapers were already dying before the iPad came out earlier this year, but switching their focus away from print may help some of them survive.
