IPad Site has been talking about iOS 4.3. It’s a great operating system with many happy users, but as the only constant in the universe is constant change and all that, we have to move on in the line of progress towards something better. iOS5 is nowhere near at this point but here briefly summarized recommended improvements.
Wireless Synchronization
The issue here is that in order to sync new Apple applications and media to the device, you still have to connect your iOS 5 device to the computer using wired connections. It would be best if synchronization can be done over the air. They try to persuade the public to buy their products but cross platform synchronization is not present.
Intrusive notifications
The iOS 5 notifications are unsightly. They are intrusive and they are not optimized. They should take some cues from the notifications of Boxcar and have a common location where they can view the recent notifications so that you can better manage updates or other functions.
The lock screen
A lot of companies are making use of their screen in the most users friendly and practical ways and we see that the Apple iOS only uses customizable pictures, date and time on their lock screen . If they could just offer details like email notifications, weather or others, it would not be a waste of screen real estate.
Back ups
The number of games that are available for iOS is expanding but the capacity is not on par. Apple should device a way to create a back up the bought and free apps at least on your computer’s iTunes folder so that you can remove the applications on your device and just reinstall when you need to get them.
Folders
The folders for iOS 5 are nice but they are quite limited. The folders should be able to store more apps and make use of the scrolling option as necessary.
Multitasking
There should be more options with this feature. There should be a quite all function, easier access to airplane mode as well as the brightness slider.
Data sharing
Sandboxing the apps improves the stability but a lot of developers are complaining that it prevents data from being shared intuitively. The approach that Apple did to open various file formats in other apps is still very limited.
Apps list
Most of us will have apps on their devices that exceed 100 and managing them can be quite a chore. If Apple can have a list view of the apps or the functions to filter them by typing some characters.
Apps toggle
The default apps can be placed o a folder but users should have more freedom to hide them using some improved or additional options on the settings tab (hopefully).
Auto correct and dictionary feature
In fairness to Apple, the auto correct is really good. However, a lot of people find that it messes up a lot of times. If Apple enables customizable features on the dictionary and auto correct, this glitch can be addressed.
Multitasking in App store
The App store allows to buy apps just one at a time and to make matters worse, slowly. Hopefully, they figure out a way to make buying stuff a lot more sophisticated like the ones you see in major online stores.
Guest Mode
You cannot create multiple accounts on an iPad. It is personally your own. So if the whole family owns one iPad only, they would have to settle with the trash of others.
