Here is another alternative to the GoodReader – Fast PDF. This app too retails for $0.99 like the Goodreader and loads PDFs faster, but it does not recognize tablet of contents, something which a PDF reader must posses.
However, I loved the bookshelf. But for huge PDFs I would say go for the Goodreader, until folks behind Fast PDF update it to support table of contents.
